Hi,

If you speak a language that's not supported by sane yet it would be
appreciated if you could translate the backend options to your
language. Backend options are the options that describe the scanner
capabilities like "Scanmode" or "Bitdepth".

Also updates of the currently existing translation files are
appreciated.

Here is the current status of the translations:

German: (sane-backends.de.po)
533 translated messages, 1 fuzzy translation, 27 untranslated messages.
Some translations missing for epson, leo and matsushita, otherwise
  pretty complete.

Spanish: (sane-backends.es.po)
136 translated messages, 85 fuzzy translations, 340 untranslated messages.
  Quite some work left.

French: (sane-backends.fr.po)
139 translated messages, 75 fuzzy translations, 347 untranslated messages.
  Quite some work left.

Portuguese: (sane-backends.pt.po)
116 translated messages, 10 fuzzy translations, 435 untranslated messages.
  Quite some work left.

Russian: (sane-backends.ru.po)
335 translated messages, 55 fuzzy translations, 171 untranslated messages.
Someone is currently working on this language.

Swedish: (sane-backends.sv.po)
213 translated messages, 83 fuzzy translations, 265 untranslated messages.
  Quite some work left.

Italian:
Not done yet, but someone is working on this language.

Every new language is also appreciated :-)

It's not necessary to translate all options. Just translate those you
know the meaning. If in doubt, ask here or on the irc channel.

How to do it? Get the latest unofficial sane-backends snapshot from
http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/snapshots/ and have a look at
po/README for documentation. If you don't want to download 2.5 MB, I
can also send the po template to you.

To actually test the translations, use xsane 0.90.

Thanks for all contributions!

Bye,
  Henning
