Yes, I think that's ok.

Yes, that's right.

Yes. Halftone is a method to simulate a gray scale image in lineart
mode. The red/green/blue lineart mode is very seldomly used.

Both methods reduce resolution to increase color space.

At least for German, I wouldn't know a good translation for "dither".
It's untranslated currently.

No real idea. The description in saneopts.h says: "Selects what
radiance level should be considered \"white\"."

All these test options are combinations of the capabilities of the
SANE standard. In this example, (5/6) means, taht there are 6 options
of type "bool" and this is option number 5. "bool" is the type of the
option (true or false), "soft select", "soft detect" and "emulated"
are capabilities of this option. I wouldn't translate these option
titles. If you like, you can translate the descriptions. I would keep
the capability names untranslated:
