Hello,

I been using my Epson 1650 for weeks without problems,
but am now unable to get it to work. I've rebooted
since I last had it working, but don't remember doing
anything special since the reboot before that to make
it work. Both xsane and scanimage have the same
problem.

2.4.x kernel, usbcore/usb-ohci/scanner modules loaded.

gamer:~/sane-backends-1.0.10> scanimage -V
scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.10; backend version
1.0.10

gamer:~/sane-backends-1.0.10> xsane -v
xsane-0.90 (c) 1998-2002 Oliver Rauch

gamer:~> sane-find-scanner
<snip comments>
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x0110) at
/dev/usb/scanner0

gamer:~> scanimage -L
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname BT878(Hauppauge
(bt878)) virtual device

gamer:~> scanimage -d epson:/dev/usb/scanner0
[epson] Error opening the devicescanimage: open of
device epson:/dev/usb/scanner0 failed: Invalid
argument

I tried setting SANE_DEBUG_SANEI_USB=128, and did the
following:

gamer:~/sane-backends-1.0.10> xsane
epson:/dev/usb/scanner0 |& grep 4b8
[sanei_usb] sanei_usb_init: found kernel scanner

sanei finds the device over and over, but never asks
for product 0x0110. The odd thing is for vendor
0x04b8, it only asks for products 0x010f and 0x011d,
but when I look in the backends directory of the
source, those two are missing from the epson_usb.c,
and all the others are never asked for. I tried
rerunning "make install" for sane, and rerunning
scanimage and xsane with /usr/local/lib/sane prepended
to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH, with the same results.

I can't think of what I could have done to break this.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

-Michael
