That's true for all gt6816-based Mustek CCD scanners. The Plustek
1248U which is also CCD and uses a similar design needs the power
supply, however (24V) to be visible.

Seems to be true for all gt68xx based CIS scanners.
Still I don't see any problem with the autoloading of the scanner
module.
