it seems the scanner really uses the SnapScan protocol. It shouldn't=20
be too hard to get it to work with the snapscan backend.

In the first two logs you've attached the scanner identifies itself as=20
"EPSON Scanner1". This ID string is currently not recognized by the=20
snapscan backend and needs to be added to snapscan.h.=20

If you've installed SANE from source you only need to edit snapscan.h,=20
around line 185, and add a line
{"EPSON Scanner1",       PERFECTION1670}
to the array of ID strings. After editing the file, run=20

touch snapscan.c
make=20
make install

=46or some strange reason the scanner uses a different ID string in the=20
third log you've attached ("EPSON Scanner"). Did you change something=20
in the meantime (e.g. manually tried to load a firmware file,=20
powercycled the scanner)?
