I believe this is the same backend as the 4570c (and some five thousand 
series model).  The back end is "genesys" but it's very incomplete, and 
my HP4570c only understands some of the Genesys commands.  If you find 
out what chipset it uses (I have a test script for genesys if you'd 
like) (or by opening up the scanner) you can generally find good results 
on that specific chip.  Genesys publishes all of their register specs 
(you can google for this, actually).  I am (in my spare time, which is 
very limited) working on the genesys backend.
