Ooops. I think I know what is going on. My friend Eddy De Greef (I hope
he still calls me friend after this!), compiled libsane-gt68xx.so.1.0.13
with libusb support! I checked the old file now and discovered that it
doesn't hav libusb support!

Here's the output of ldd libsane-gt68xx.so.1.0.13.old

libsane-gt68xx.so.1.0.13.old:
        libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x40029000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/i686/libm.so.6 (0x4003e000)
        libjpeg.so.62 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0x40062000)
        libieee1284.so.3 => /usr/lib/libieee1284.so.3 (0x40080000)
        libgphoto2.so.2 => /usr/lib/libgphoto2.so.2 (0x4008a000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40104000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/i686/libc.so.6 (0x40107000)
        libgphoto2_port.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgphoto2_port.so.0 (0x40225000)
        libltdl.so.3 => /usr/lib/libltdl.so.3 (0x4022c000)
        libexif.so.5 => /usr/lib/libexif.so.5 (0x40233000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x80000000)

How can I get a compiled version of sane with libusb support? My problem
is that I don't have the room on my server to install the compiling
utilities. Unless I can install cygwin on another laptop and compile sane
for linux usage (but then I'd need to know how to do that :( ).

I've attached the output of the above, although I suspect that it's
superfluous because my version of sane is not compiled against libusb.

Thanks again,

Jim
