Hello Russ,

the difference between the quality calibration and normal calibration
is the number of lines = the size of the area that is used to calibrate.
For normal calibration there are used a few lines, for quality calibration
about 60 lines are used. When the calibration area is clean and dustfree
then there is no problem with the normal calibration.

I am not sure why the quality calibration fails.
The firmware output of your debug looks like a Astra 2100S model.
I know taht the quality calibration did work for other people with an
Astra 2100S. I also know that the quality calibration works on some
Astra 2200 systems. It may depend on the scanner, but it also
can depend on the scsi controller or other things.
