[sane-devel] Visioneer Strobe XP100 (need help)

SANE Developers,

I have been interested in using the Visioneer Strobe XP100 handheld
scanner with SANE for some time. Now, I have a need to use it, and
have been hacking with SANE but haven't made much progress. So far, I
have opened the device up and verified that it is LM9833. Accordingly,
I have downloaded the latest stable SANE (1.0.13) and I am using the
plustek-backend. Since the device isn't listed as supported, I've
modified the Canon N650U/N656U "profile" in plustek-usbdevs.c, so that
is corresponds to the Strobe XP100's USB vendor/product ID. The device
is now recognized, however, when trying to scan using "scanimage -L", a
loud buzzing noise is emitted and the paper is not feed through. (I do
not hear this in windows). I believe a part of the problem is that
SANE thinks the device is a flatbed scanner, but is really is a
sheet-fed scanner.

At the bottom of my email is some relevant debugging information. The
scanner has a mechanical sensor in the slot to determine if there is
paper available. I have shown debugging information with paper in the
slot and without.

Since, I'm not familiar with the sane package (my first time using it),
your help is appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
gn
