	Hello,

	you get this because your 'ppdev.h' linux kernel include file
is too old (version below 2.4.7 or something like that). While I cared
about PPGETMODES possibly missing, I didn't manage the PPGETMODE case.
But without PPGETMODE, the backend cannot use the ppdev device and you
have to use direct hardware access (compile with --enable-direct-parportio).
	Since the configure script doesn't have an option to
disable ppdev, you'll have to change the
#define HAVE_LINUX_PPDEV_H 1
into
#undef HAVE_LINUX_PPDEV_H
in the include/sane/config.h file.

	But what exact kernel do you use ? In case it is more recent than
03/01/2001 , it may be just a matter of upgrading the linux kernel includes 
installed on your machine.
