why do you think it's a rebadged Plustek Scanner - only because of the "Slim"
keyword - there are also products from KYE/Genius using this word...

Also the ST28 is not a Slim scanner, the only Slim devices they have are the
OpticSlim 1200, 2400 (supported by the gt68xx Backend) and the 2420 (chipset
unknown). The ST28 looks like the ST24 and uses probably a Genesys Logic
chip...

Depends on the chipset, if it's a GenesysLogic chip, then there's some
wip. As Henning suggested, send us the output of 

sane-find-scanner -v -v
