[sane-devel] Using Sane with HP Scanner

Hello,

after you have loaded the appropriate modules with modprobe, (epst, 
etc.) you should see in /var/log/messages which SCSI-device is used for 
the scanner. Before you don't see your scanner here, you don't need to 
try scanimage.
