...and then I found the --mode lineart requirement in the archives that
my previous searches had missed. Never mind. Duplex is working fine now,
although only at 300dpi. Requesting 600 dpi, although theoretically
valid, bombs with 'sane_start: Invalid argument', which I'm starting to
understand means 'you asked for something stupid'.
