Ah, sorry got that wrong.

Well there are Avision A3 scanners that come wihtout the integrated 
print driver ASIC.

of hand I can list:

  - AV 8000 (but it is not exactly cheap)
  - AVA3 (older - no idea if still sold)

but just browse some device lists ... I copied the mail to a german 
Avision distributor in the case he wants to reply with a current A3 
sized scanner list ....

I meant driving the parallel port of the scanner from the host computer 
to transfer data to the scanner attached printer might not be possible. 
At least I see nothing in the Avision SPEC that would indicate this.
