Hi, I'm the maintainer of the geniusvp2 backend.

Hm... I have this very same problem with my backend. I thought at first
I've damaged the sensors while cleaning the mirror on the carriage,
because I was almost sure I've never seem that dark line before that...

The interesting here is that we have totally different scanners (mine is
a Genius ColorPage-Vivid Pro II) and backends, but the same problem. The
difference is that on my case the "dark line" is black (not brown). And
in my case, scanning on Windows also shows that line, although it's
almost invisible probably because of gamma correction which my backend
does not support yet.

My guess would be badly calibrated ADC...
