with great interest i have followed this 'discussion' :
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/sane-devel/2005-July/014027.html
i've just applied the patches mentioned in that discussion to
sane-backends 1.0.16 (what are the correct permissions
for /var/lock/sane btw ?)
export SANE_DEBUG_PLUSTEK=255 ; sudo scanimage -L
gives this :
[plustek] Scanner information:
[plustek] Vendor : Canon
[plustek] Model : LiDE25
[plustek] Flags : 0x00000000
[plustek] drvclose()
[plustek] usbDev_stopScan()
[plustek] usbDev_ScanEnd(), start=0, park=0
[plustek] usbDev_close()
[plustek] attach: model = >LiDE25<
[plustek] sane_get_devices (0xbfffe7b8, 0)
device `plustek:libusb:001:003' is a Canon LiDE25 USB flatbed scanner
[plustek] sane_exit
[plustek] Shutdown called (dev->fd=-1, libusb:001:003)
[plustek] Waiting for scanner-ready...
[plustek] Switching lamp off...
[plustek] LAMP-STATUS: 0x00000000

regarding this post :
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/sane-devel/2005-July/014058.html
using scanimage > image.pnm, the scanner's light goes on, moves till
1/3 of the glass and then goes back, the resulted images are
interesting but completely not what is meant to come out :-)
and i tried to use usbsnoop with WINE, but that did not produce anything
(but an error-message "unable to enumerate USB device", and no output)
what can i do to proceed ? tia!
