[sane-devel] hp ScanJet 5200C not working

hi,
i am using sane 1.0.15-9ubuntu6 on ubuntu 5.10
sane acess the scanner via libusb

the scanner is detected, but does not work:

user at kasopaja:~$ sudo scanimage -L
device `hp:libusb:002:006' is a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 5200C flatbed
scanner
user at kasopaja:~$ sudo scanimage -T -vvvvvv
scanimage: scanning image of size 2550x3507 pixels at 1 bits/pixel

device I/O
Closing device
Calling sane_exit
scanimage: finished

but the 5200c is complete supported, isn't ?
is there a way to detect if the hardware or the software fails ?
