Hi Andre,

first I have to say that I am not involved any more with the development 
of the genesys backend.

But as you can see on the video, the sensor does not exceed the height 
of the scan surface, but stops in the middle of the scan area.

So I can imagine only two possible reasons for the problem:

1. there is a bug in the sensor motor management of the backend.  But I 
do not believe this because of the noises.
2. the sensor gets mechanically stuck. This may be caused by 
insufficient lubrication or more probably by the heavy dictionary you 
have on the scanner. If I push a magazine or something like that very 
hard on the scan surface of my canon lide50, the scanner also starts 
making loud noises and maybe slows down but does not get really stuck.

So maybe you can find out, if your scanner has a mechanical problem.
