Hmm. Strange, autoconf never complained before.

I've always used a patched version to get rid of useless dependencies
on backends. In the last debian revisions I've moved to link all the
backends only to the libraries they need.

That requires a modified configure script to support that.

There are also the usual portability fixes from time to time.

Also, we use a modified libtool, and it's not possible to build
sane-backends with a regular libtool... better have the libtool.m4
around.
