Hi,

I succesfully used my hp7400C on a centos 5.1 until today. It stopped
working just like that. 

[root at termy ~]# rpm -aq | grep sane
sane-backends-1.0.18-5.el5
sane-backends-libs-1.0.18-5.el5
libsane-hpaio-1.6.7-4.1.el5.4
sane-frontends-1.0.14-1.2.2

One thing I see of different behavior is that when I turn on my scanner
it pops 'Ready' on the display immediately. It used to do 'Initialising'
at first.

now it reports 

scanimage: sane_start: Device busy
scanimage: received signal 15
scanimage: trying to stop scanner
scanimage: received signal 15
scanimage: aborting

when I try a scanimage

scanimage -L just hangs about,

any clues?

let me know if I have to post more details about the setup
