OK, that means you nedd also install gphoto2-devel and libieee1284-devel.
That's not a problem so far.

Well, that one doesn't look good. You told us that you had installed
sane-backends-1.0.19-10.fc9.i386 but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Show us what you have installed:
rpm -q sane-backends sane-backends-libs
