I haven't looked at your latest patch yet; from your description it
looks like it does the right thing, though. I'll review it and commit
it if everything is OK with it.

If you plan on making regular contributions to SANE, create a login on
alioth.debian.org and request to join the SANE project on the project
page on alioth.
