 I don't know, but that fixed scanimage. tiffscan worked nicely.

 The option's type is set to SANE_TYPE_GROUP, there's no GROUP in .cap
 AFAIK.
  
 Without the patch .cap would hold 
 SANE_CAP_SOFT_SELECT | SANE_CAP_SOFT_DETECT
 in addition.
