Since this driver has never seen this scanner before, I imagine that
there are going to be a bunch of adventures.  So I'm inclined to
try a version from the development tree.

Is there a "howto" to build this for testing on Ubuntu Karmic?  Am I
best off downloading the source for the Karmic 1.0.20 libsane package,
slipping the current tree into that, rebuilding, and installing?  Or
is there a more sensible way?
