Hello everybody,
I can´t access my Canon pixma MP610 scanner after upgrading to Debian sqeeze.
sane-find-scanner detects the scanner correctly:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9, product=0x1725) at libusb:001:002
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
scanimage shows the scanner:
scanimage -L
device `pixma:04A91725' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MP610 multi-function peripheral
device `net:localhost:pixma:04A91725' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MP610
multi-function peripheral
I´m member of the group scanner,
the pixma MP610 is listed in /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libsane.rules, I even copied
60-libsane.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/
# Canon PIXMA MP610
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1725", MODE="0664", GROUP="scanner",
ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"
syslog shows that I´ve been granted access from saned
localhost saned[5119]: saned (AF-indep+IPv6) from sane-backends 1.0.21 starting
up

nevertheless scanimage -T (as not-root-user) fails:

denied

With Debian Lenny everything went fine, worked out of the box, I only had to
configure the net access.
If this is the wrong forum for my question I do apologize - please tell me the
right forum.
I suspect that it might be an access-rights problem at some level, but I have no
idea what it might be. I´ve already told my problem in a general debian forum -
but nobody could help me.
Thank you very much!
Michael
