[sane-devel] Parallel white lines when scanning using scanner of Canon PIXMA MP560

Hi,

I hope I'm sending this query to the right place, as I've been googling
for a few days without luck.

I have just bought a new Canon PIXMA MP560 printer/scanner and it is
connected via USB to my modern Core i7 laptop which dual boots Windows 7
Professional 64-bit and Sabayon Linux (customised Gentoo Linux) multilib
64-bit.

The scanner works perfectly under Windows 7.

It also works, but not perfectly, under Linux using sane-backends
1.021-r1 and xsane 0.997 (the latest versions available from the package
manager). Unfortunately in Linux there are parallel white lines
throughout the whole scanned image, at more or less regular intervals.
The white lines are parallel to the scanner head, i.e. perpendicular to
the direction of scanning (i.e. the lines are parallel to the shorter
sides of an A4 page).

I'm guessing that there is some buffer overflow problem with the
xsane-backends driver for the Canon PIXMA devices? Is there a
configuration parameter I can adjust?

By the way, I also have a HP ScanJet 3400C scanner connected to the same
laptop via USB too, and the images scanned using the same sane-backends
1.021-r1 and xsane 0.997 are fine.

Hoping you can help me. Many thanks in advance.

Best Regards.
