Hello everybody,

here some additional information to my problem:

I got the following error message from scanimage -L while debug flag is set:

root at tux /etc/sane.d # SANE_DEBUG_GENESYS=128 scanimage -L
[sanei_debug] Setting debug level of genesys to 128.

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
[genesys] sane_exit: start
[genesys] sane_exit: exit
root at tux /etc/sane.d # grep 1904 /etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap
/etc/sane.d/*
/etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap:libusbscanner 0x0003 0x04a9 0x1904
0x0000 0x0000 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00000000
/etc/sane.d/genesys.conf:usb 0x04a9 0x1904

---

Seems to me, that scanimage does not accept the vendor and product id I
have set. vendor 1193 product 6404 is the decimal writing for 0x04a9 and
0x1904 which I set manually in two files:

---

root at tux /etc/sane.d # grep 1904 /etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap
/etc/sane.d/*
/etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap:libusbscanner 0x0003 0x04a9 0x1904
0x0000 0x0000 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00000000
/etc/sane.d/genesys.conf:usb 0x04a9 0x1904

---

Are those settings not read correctly by scanimage?

Greetings,

Melanie
