Hello,
this is correct. SANE searches for conf files in the current working
directory, then in the configured --sysconfdir directory (in this case
/usr/local/etc). So copy your modified genesys.conf file in the directory
where you run scanimage from, or in /usr/local/etc, since 'make install'
doesn't override already installed configuration file that may miss the device
you added.
