Just An update on this issue. I recently upgrade my system, and xsane 
worked. Once I changed my setup from randr-supported two screen to 
xinerama-supported three screen (because I have two separate graphic 
cards), xsane doesn't work anymore.

So it has something to do with xsane requesting some randr functions and 
crashing since there's no randr.
