[sane-devel] xsane vs evince

I scanned a document with Xsane, saving the result as a PDF.  Evince
can display the PDF but spits out a lot of diagnostics on standard out
(or perhaps standard error).

If I scan the same document with the same scanner and with
simple-scan, the PDF elicits no warnings from evince.  

The Xsane version is smaller.

I'm using Xsane 0.998, the version supplied with Fedora 17.  The
architecture is x86_64.  The scanner uses the proprietary
brscan4-0.4.1-3 SANE driver from Brother.

This looks like a bug to me.  Is this known?  Is this an Xsane
problem?  Is there a good work around?
