Hello,

I would like to get my old Pixma MP500 scanner running on my OSX 10.8.4, but after an initial scan, it hangs and gives after a minute an I/O Error. it means the scanner is doing something, but it can not terminate. I installed the actual binarys from Mattias Ellerts homepage. The scanner works with my old Mac and original software from the vendor.

$ scanimage -L works and results in:
device `pixma:04A9170C_109C33' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MP500 multi-function peripheral

also $sane-find-scanner works and results in:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x170c [MP500]) at libusb:003:004-04a9-170c-00-00
found USB scanner (vendor=0x05ac [Apple Inc.], product=0x828b [Bluetooth USB Host Controller]) at libusb:003:006-05ac-828b-ff-01

but $scanimage -d pixma:04A9170C_109C33 > test.tiff results in:
scanimage: sane_read: Error during device I/O

Any ideas?

Regards
Marcel
