I see you are compiling for yourself on Raspbian.  Maybe you'd like to
try to grab a copy of scanbd from Debian experimental and compile that
into a package.  It might get you into more trouble but at least you'd
be on a more common setup and it would be easier to pinpoint problems
and fix them for everybody.
