Hi Rolf,

I tested using the latest PPA connected via usb. Results ...

- before update to to latest PPA XSane & Simple Scan could not find any
scanners
- today both scan apps found the scanner but reported an error when
attempting to scan

error message and output of sudo sane-find-scanner -v -v attached

Thanks again for your efforts,

Carl

This is sane-find-scanner from sane-backends 1.0.27git

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
