Hi,

I now have 2 ancient scanners.  An Epson Perfection scanner and a DiMage
Scan Dual III (Minolta) slide scanner.

My desktop is ubuntu 16.04 on a Dell.   The Epson Scanner has worked fine
(except when the power adapter failed...)

The Minolta Slide scanner, not yet.

The sane-find-scanner reports:
  sane-find-scanner | grep Minolta
  found USB scanner (vendor=0x0686 [MINOLTA], product=0x400d [DiMAGE Scan

I've updated sane to this version of the backends:
   scanimage -V
   scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.27git; backend version 1.0.27


xsane is slow to start, first shows a histogram window, then a preview
window, then the save/configure window.

Then xsane hangs and pop-up error messages appear.


Today, xsane crashed and left a report, maybe this was mailed someplace....
I usualy close the application before it crashes...

deleted lines that seem to repeat very similar info.
