I tried that just yesterday, and it didn't work.  The router simply ref-
uses to assign to a given MAC address  a static DHCP address outside the
DHCP range ... :-(

And worse,  if you assign  a static IP address,  the router nevertheless
will keep the dynamic DHCP address ... :-(

So the  best solution  currently really is  to use this  ugly fixed host
name, "new-host".
