I believe the other person already found a work-around/fix but your
comment is actually something that many people "forget" (or are not
even aware of to begin with).

You can install the devscripts package on Debian(-derivates) and use
the checkbashisms utility to find issues in your scripts.

For the lazy, replacing /bin/sh with /bin/bash should to care of your
bashisms.
