The retailers are reachable as one may guess they don't even know the
word protocol or some haven't heard of Linux. All that they say is if you
want another installation how much the license cost is. They assert it
won't work without their software.

The manufacturer hasn't responded on this a while back. I will try writing
again.

There is only one presentation by the company where it says the device is
TWAIN compatible (link shared in the first post).

Someone suggested me to ask alibaba.com[1] as they might answer these
queries better. But the product page is in German only (even if I search
the product on their English website). So not sure about the link where I
can post an English question.
