handed it to us here at the SANE Project to continue development and
support.

Sorry I didn't get back to you quicker. It is a known problem that I will
get around to fixing hopefully fairly soon.
The bigger issues are that a release hasn't been made for around a decade
and things have moved on somewhat. Developers have been engaged in
reworking the code for GTK3 (which of course is now out of date itself) and
a number of other issues have been addressed.
We will hopefully get something out soon but at the SANE project we are
woefully under funded in terms of time and availability of devs to do all
the work that is needed. :(
