Interesting! There are not a lot of results for the product ID 1824 for
Plustek / vendor 07b3. Could you include the output of: `scanimage -L`
(run as root, in case that output differs) and `lsusb -v` (feel free to
just include the section related to this scanner, or the entire output
if you're unsure).

It's _fairly_ likely that the device would work if the genesys driver is
pointed at it, but it's also possible there is some heretofore unseen
variant of an 8100 that requires different parameters, and so some
driver development work would remain.
