Hi,

I'm not sure which driver package you installed.

If you installed Canon's official drivers, please note that they **do
not provide a SANE backend**. As a result, SANE applications such as
XSane, Simple Scan, or `scanimage` cannot use the scanner. In that case,
you must use Canon's own application, **scangearmp2**, which is included
with the Canon drivers.

Canon's driver also has another limitation: it only supports scanning at
**150 DPI**. In contrast, the driver available from the referenced
repository supports resolutions of up to **600 DPI**, providing much
better image quality and greater flexibility.

If your goal is to use SANE-compatible applications (XSane, Simple Scan,
`scanimage`, etc.), then you need to install the packages provided by
the referenced repository:

https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/thierry1970/

Those packages include the SANE backend required for the scanner to be
detected and used by SANE applications, while also providing additional
features compared to Canon's original driver.

Cheers,

Thierry
