Understood. Can you re-run the same command but prefix it with
SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=128 ?

This may give us more information about what exactly is failing in this
process, which _might_ be an issue with backend/driver support for this
scanner, but could also be something related to the configuration of
your system.
