</div></div>Ubuntu 12.04 ships libsane-extras_1.0.22.  This should install without a<br>
hitch but no longer includes support for your scanner.  I guess that's<br>
why you're trying the older version.  You could forcibly install that<br>
but I doubt it'll work.<br>

You can get a working frontend, backend and the required non-free plugin<br>
