          Running Ubuntu 12.04 on all machines, networked via DLink
      DIR-825, scanner server assigned 192.168.0.117 (reserved for
      scanner server in DIR-825). scanner is HP-C5500 series.<br>
      <br>
          I have extensively attempted to share the scanner over my
      network via:<br>

        href="https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane.d%20tutorial">https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane.d%20tutorial</a><br>
      with no success.<br>
      <br>
          scanimage -L reports:<br>
      device 'hpaio:/usb/Photosmart_C5500_series?serial=MY8CJC20G4056H'
      is a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart_C5500_series all-in-one<br>
      <br>
          Running xsane on the server does provide scanning capability.<br>
      <br>
          Running xsane on clients results in no device found.<br>
      <br>
          Attempting the "Test if the server can reach its own saned on
      localhost" results in only one copy of the scanner at:<br>
      Device: </font><font face="Times New Roman, Times, serif"><font
        face="Times New Roman, Times, serif">/usb/Photosmart_C5500_series?serial=MY8CJC20G4056H</font><br>
      when viewing File -> Info.  It would appear that the loopback
      does not work.<br>
      <br>
          I believe I have attempted all of the options in the tutorial
      with no success.<br>
      <br>
          Have attempted some of the recommendations in the xinetd man
      page.<br>
      <br>
          What next?<br>
