Though please note that manually parsing might create complexities
because it might conflict with the data in the database and trying to
fix that is not ... worth it :)

In short, we have to be careful about not mixing this approach too
much -- local parsing should not be mixed with nntpstat always because
I can foresee problems if we do this.
