I wasn't aware you couldn't do this in Debian. You do the uploads in
Ubuntu right? speech-dispatcher in Debian is behind Ubuntu and upstream.
Wouldn't it make lots of sense to try to have Ubuntu just take from
Debian (win-win for both parties)? In other words, can't we come to a
scheme where Debian is up-to-date?

I don't feel extremely confident to just do the work (as I don't use the
package), but if you prepare the packages (like you do for Ubuntu) than
I am very willing to do the uploads. Just let me know when things are
ready for upload and I'll upload as soon as I can (and don't object the
changes).
