Hi Holger and tuxforkids developers :-),

I wasn't able to compile the svn trunk. However I downloaded the
tuxtype_with_fonts-1.7.3 from http://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=31080
which has compiled fine.

I didn't want this to be put off because of my not being able to build the
current development tuxtype, even if I risk being too late. I'm sorry if I
am.

Amaya, the .po files I see are completely translated.

I attach new text files and words for basque (euskara) and spanish if you
wish to add them. In that case it would be fine if someone could revise the
lists. I have not write too many words.

I have been inspired by other translations and added animals, boys and
girls' names, finger exercises and astronomy words. I've edited the
makefile.am files too to add these new text files. I found this very easy to
do but at the moment I don't know how to code C or any other programming
language. But I can help for easy tasks.

I will add phrases if there is a way to have them localized.

Comments:

As I see from the point of view of a newcomer, I think tuxtype has to
improve in localization and in menu organization.

My proposals:

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Menu organization:
 """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
First menu:

In my opinion, the first menu should have:

Project Info / Setup Language / Setup Keyboard/ Instructions / Go on /
Quit

"Go on" leads to the Second Menu proposed below and it is more or less the
equivalent of what "Main Menu" is now. Instead of "Go on" more funny words
can be used, something that sounds cool for a child, encouraging him or her
to continue to a good place for playing and learning.

If you set up another language, the same menu appears in the chosen
language.

Instructions should be translated as well. Short and friendly instructions
for each of the games or activities the second menu offers.

Second menu:

Fish cascade / Comet Zap / Lessons / Phrase typing / Edit word list / Main
Menu

Here the Main Menu is the above defined First Menu. Instead of "Edit word
list", "Options" could be fine too, being "Edit word list" the only choice
for the time being, but leaving the door open to add more customizing
options.

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Keyboard localization
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
I imagine this will be tricky to implement. For example, I wasn't able to
get a "n with a hat". See for example:

http://images.google.es/images?q=letra+ñ&oe=utf-8&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=L42xSY3FEoS2jAfzzZToBQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title<http://images.google.es/images?q=letra+%C3%B1&oe=utf-8&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=L42xSY3FEoS2jAfzzZToBQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title>

This letter is crucial in spanish and it exists in basque (euskara) too,
although is much more rare in basque than in Spanish. It is in the place
where semicolon is in a US qwerty keyboard. Well, it just can be left out by
not having words containing it. However for the "Lessons" it is a must for a
good spanish and basque loalization. (And I guess for other countries
aswell)

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Thanks for reading it. I'm making progress with my typing by playing
Tuxtype, really!

Cheers! Pablo

This would be the menu that appears when you choose "Start"
