[Tux4kids-tuxtype-dev] Building from source

Hello,

I tried cloning the tux4kids using the terminal and following the
doc/INSTALL but still i'm running into problems. i also installed
libsdl_ttf using wget and alien but still then ./configure
--without-libsdlpango --without-rsvg gives

checking for TTF_Init in -lSDL_ttf... no
configure: error: SDL_ttf not found! http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_ttf

Please help.
