According to http://packages.ubuntu.com/tuxtype ubuntu, and therefore 
edubuntu, only has 1.5.6. You could try to install the binary packages from 
debian directly or, if this doesnt work, rebuild them on ubuntu.

Yes, but for historic reasons we have used the tuxmath list in the past, see 
seperate post.

Not more lessons, but many bugfixes since 1.5.6.
