Thinking out loud: remember the bug you (or me, doesn't matter)
reported against debcheckout in Debian to better support, via
heuristics, topgit? Well, once I have time to fix it :), we can ask
debcheckout if some package using Vcs-Git is actually topgit or not,
how does that sound?

It would be better to avoid adding that behavior to "debcheckout -p"
though, as currently that flag is able to work offline, while the new
query behavior would require network connection ...
