yes, but it is addressing the repository with a fqdn. a conary
repository can be run by anyone anywhere. rmake itself also runs a local
repository to manage the packages it builds. (and conary can be
configured to access that too. it's a neat shortcut to analyze rmake
results without needing writeout a changeset or commit te results to the
public repository)

that's exactly the main point of my reply.
the conary repository is just a part of rBuilder.
it just so happens that up to now the conary repository that is
integrated into rBuilder is the only one currently available for public
use. but the code for the repository is available under the CPL and you
can run your own if you like. you just won't get the rBuilder webinterface
with it (which is not a problem for package developers because the
commandline tools can do everything and more anyways)
